AMI TECH TIP
TECH TIP NO. 99.004
DATE: August 19, 1991
BOARD TYPE: All EISA Motherboards
ORIGINATOR: Rex Wade
RELEASED BY: Documentation Control
PROBLEM: The Distributed Processing Technology EISA to SCSI
Controller card (DPT 2012A/90) may have a problem working
on some EISA motherboards when the EISA bus is loaded with
several cards. The error usually shows up as a Non-
Maskable Interrupt (NMI) and may be intermittent.
REASON: The DPT 2012A/90 EISA to SCSI Controller card does not
meet the EISA specifications for BCLK rising edge to data
valid delay during EISA Master Burst mode transfers.
SOLUTION: DPT has corrected the problem on their latest EISA to SCSI
Controller card (DPT 2012B/90). Since this is a problem
with the DPT card, there is no solution for the
motherboard.
